Senate President David Mark and His Deputy Ike Ekweremadu Receive Their National e-ID Cards

President of Nigeria’s Senate, David Alechenu Mark and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, have been issued their new national e-ID Cards by NIMC.

dmarkSlide In a brief ceremony held yesterday 17th December at the national assembly complex, the DG/CEO NIMC Barr. Chris Onyemenam made the card presentations to the dignitaries. Both senators were impressed with the card body design and excited at the potentials the electronic card bears for the nation’s transformation.

Speaking at the event, senator Mark said “the national e-ID Card initiative is a welcome development and it gives me the hope that this country can be great, do great things and compete favorably with advanced countries of the world”, speaking further on the need to carry all Nigerians along in the enrollment process, the senate president said “there are 774 Local Governments in the country, hence, I advise that the Commission should try and establish at least one e-ID Card Registration and Collection centre in each of the local governments to make registration and collection easier for rural dwellers”.

On his part, Senator Ike Ekweremadu commended the foresight and determination of the Director General of NIMC, according to him “this action today has shown that the Director General has been vindicated that he is the right man for the job. I will like to thank you for this accomplishment and I do hope that as we begin this process, many Nigerians will get their National e-ID Cards. You have built a data base that is trustworthy, comprehensive and Nigerians will be happy that we have got it right this time around”.

The DG/CEO NIMC was accompanied to the event by senior members of NIMC management and card activation officers.
