NIN Now Mandatory For Driver’s License Application
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has made the National Identification Number (NIN) mandatory for processing and issuance of the National Driver’s license.
This was made known when the Director General National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Engr. Aliyu Aziz and other top management staff of the Commission paid a working visit to the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi at the FRSC headquarter.
Corps Marshal Oyeyemi, emphasized the importance of complying with NIMC’s regulation, in ensuring that the NIN serves as an identifier for accessing social, economic benefits and services.
He also highlighted the immense benefit the NIN will be to the FRSC in curbing the issue of imposters, identity theft by fraudulent applicants and road offenders.
In his remarks, the DG/CEO NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz commended FRSC for implementing the NIN policy in its service delivery process, as the NIN according to the NIMC ACT is mandatory for every citizen and legal resident for all identity based transactions.
He also commended the efforts made in annihilating duplication of responsibilities among data capturing government agencies and assured continued partnership between the two Organizations.
