Overview
NIMC’s enrolment figures, as at the end of the year 2020, stood at over 44 million unique records.
The total enrolment figure for 2020 was 5,017,806 unique records. The figure represents a drop from 5,836,663 recorded in 2019 and this was as a result of Federal Government COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns in Nigeria starting from the end of March 2020 which lead to halt of the enrolment exercise for some time.
NIN requirements for JAMB and SIM card registration led to spikes in enrolment figures at the start and end of the year.
The highest enrolment figures were recorded in 2016 and 2017 owing to the harmonisation of millions BVN records by Nigerian banks with NIMC over that period.
The top five Nigerian states with the highest enrolment figures recorded were Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Borno and the FCT, Abuja.
