CAN Collaborates With NIMC

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Sokoto State and the Representatives of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sokoto Chapter made a joint courtesy visit to The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Revd Dr Matthew Hassan Kukah.

The visit was aimed at fostering stronger relationship between the Commission and Religious bodies and prompting Collaborations to ensure that people are sensitized and educated on the National Identification Number (NIN) and also enrolled in to the National Identity Database.

Bishop Kukah assured NIMC that arrangements were in place towards opening Enrollment Centers in Catholic Church Sokoto and Sultan Abubakar Jummat Mosque, Sokoto with full support from of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Sokoto State.

The Director General NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz, commended the efforts put in place by the Ministry and Religious Organizations and urged other Organizations to follow suit by contributing their quota towards the National Identity Management Systems project.

He further stressed the need for partnerships “We need close to 4000 enrollment centres to cater for the population. The standard is that for every 50,000 people we need 1 enrollment centre “Aziz said.
